Course Description
This short course introduces students to modern GIS methods for spatial data analysis with applications in economic development research. It blends conceptual lectures, hands-on coding, and replication of published research using open-source tools. Students will learn how to clean, manipulate, and visualize geospatial data and how to integrate GIS techniques into quantitative empirical research.
Basic experience with quantitative data analysis and coding is recommended but not required.
Technical Requirements
Laptop with a stable internet connection.
Ability to download and handle up to 1 GB of data.
A Google account (required to access Google Colab and Google Earth Engine).
QGIS installed prior to the first session.
